These boots are so on-trend you’ll want to buy them ASAP

Forget about sock boots, these are IT

Forget about sock boots, these are IT

Now I've got a confession to make, I'm not normally a big boot fan (though if you are, do check out our sock boots edit). In fact, I'd usually spend winter quite literally freezing my socks off because I'm so intent on persevering with pumps. Being relatively short at 5ft3, I just think boots of any kind make my legs look shorter. Even ankle boots.

However, I might just change my mind this season, thanks to the below boots. I first spotted them on fashion influencer Laura Fantacci of WIT Blog a few days ago on Instagram, and I was hooked. Seeing as Laura is also petite, and she could definitely pull them off, I thought I'd go in store and try them on myself.

And guess what? They're as incred as they look. First off, they look really flattering on, and they are in one of AW17's must-have shades: burgundy.

Next up, you've got your contrasting heel, a cylindrical block affair in faux crocodile skin style - plus it makes it easy to walk in them.

Laura styled hers with a cashmere jumper and floral skirt in matching shades, but you could also wear them with a floaty maxi dress, or flared checked suit.

These are already sold out online in a lot of sizes, so you might be better off buying them in store.

They are a bit pricey, but they are leather so not a bad investment at all. If you need convincing that is.

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
