Luxury lifestyle designer makes triumphant comeback
Our favourite purveyor of all things fragrant and lifestyle-related is back! Allegra Hicks, famous for her gorgeous printed homewares, chic kaftans and scented candles, closed her business in November due to the dreaded credit crunch but we now hear she’ll be unveiling a catwalk collection at London Fashion Week in September.
She’s founded a new company with private backing and has brought designers Abdul Koroma and Andrew Jones (the pair behind cool London label Modernist) on board to work on her clothing collection. Plans for a new store in London’s chichi enclave of Elizabeth Street are also afoot.
“It’s very important to recognize that smaller and midsized companies are getting private funding right now — despite the climate,” new company CEO Linda Peters told WWD. “And we’re so excited to be rebuilding and growing this business.”
Is that a green shoot we spy?
