Academy Award-nominated actress Catherine Deneuve was born of acting stock in Paris, 1942. She burst on to the Sixties scene by starring in films by Roman Polanski and Roger Vadim, with whom she had a relationship. By 1967, when she made Bunuel's Belle de Jour, she had become a muse for Yves Saint Laurent, who dressed her for that particular film, and subsequent movies, including La Chamade and La Siréne du Mississipi. From 1965-1972, Deneuve was married to influential fashion photographer David Bailey, and also enjoyed an affair with leading director of the era, Francois Truffaut.
