Fighting off stiff competition from Bloomingdale's in New York and Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, Selfridges was named the best department store by the Intercontinental Group of Department Stores and the International Association of Department Stores in New York.

Recognising their world-class service, and exceptional merchandise together with their ability to inject excitement and drama into shopping, the associations selected Selfridges from a list of 29 countries across five continents.

The award is therefore the industry's highest possible accolade that any retailer can achieve on a global level.
