  • Showgoers including Jessica Alba & Blake Lively were treated to a visual feast of floral-inspired designs from John Galliano

It’s the week that showcases the most expensive dresses in the world, and John Galliano ensured this season’s couture shows went off with a bang last night, with a crowd-wowing Christian Dior collection.

And with guests such as Jessica Alba, Blake Lively and Lily Cole sitting pretty in the front row, you knew you’d be in for something pretty spectacular.

The models walzed down the runway in fantastical designs inspired by all things floral – vivid splashy colours, petal-shaped skirts and collars, ruffled, textured fabrics and hand-painted flower prints.

The finale ball gowns were quite simply, some of the most beautiful pieces we’ve ever clapped eyes on – with huge, all-encompassing skirts and layers of tulle, draped silk, and ruched taffeta.

Make-up was bold, theatrical with dark plum lips, dramatically lined eyes and fabulous faux lashes, while hairpieces – courtesy of Stephen Jones – were created to look like florists’ cellophane wrapping.

John Galliano’s veritable ‘garden’ of creations was staged in a transparent tent in the grounds of the famous Rodin museum in Paris.
