The singer is rocking a shorter, layered hairstyle for summer. We give it an enthusiastic two thumbs up.

Ellie Goulding has traded in her long flowing hair for a brand-new 'do.

The 27-year-old singer has been wearing her hair in nearly waist-length waves for several months now. But it seems the warmer weather has inspired Ellie to go for the crop.

She warned us that a transformation was coming on Instagram Wednesday, posting: 'Saying goodbye to my long hair courtesy of that bloke on the back seat.'

Well, 'that bloke on the back seat' is Ellie's hair stylist, Louis Byrne - and he gave us the inside scoop about how he created her fab new look.

'Ellie wanted a fresh new look for the summer… She was ready to have a change!' he says. 'I cut off at least 12 inches to really give it texture and movement, bringing the hair around her face. I then coloured it a golden, sexy blonde.'

The next day, Ellie shared this lovely shot of the final product with the caption: 'OMFG.'

'Ellie was super happy with her new look,' Louis tells us. 'She's now more natural golden Bardot blonde.'

We love the more natural shade - and we think her shoulder-length layers are the perfect update for spring. In fact, we may just have to use this adorable pic as the inspiration for our next haircut. You don't mind if you we copy your look, right Ellie?
