The fashion designer has topped a list, compiled by business magazine Management Today, of the country's 100 most successful entrepreneurs in 2014.
The rankings are determined by assessing turnover growth and job creation over the past five years, combined with the entrepreneur's overall wealth.
Having just opened her debut store in London's Mayfair, Victoria Beckham's eponymous brand has grown from a £1m annual turnover to £30m in the last five years, and staff numbers have increased from three to 100. With a total wealth of £210m, this makes Mrs Beckham a 'supremely talented entrepreneur in the fashion business.'
'She's got a real business, some design talent and some business nous,' said Andrew Saunders, the magazine's deputy editor. 'She gets a lot of stick for being a celeb fashionista but I don’t think that’s fair. She has built something real out of her own celebrity which is quite a contemporary story. She deserves to be celebrated.'
With a sales growth of 2,900 per cent and employment growth of 3,233 per cent, we'd say the figures speak for themselves.
The list of UK's 100 most successful entrepreneurs included 14 other women, which although a disappointingly low number, is up from 11 when the rankings were last published in 2011. Among them are software entrepreneur Suzanne Marshall-Forsyth, Dame Vivienne Westwood and Cathie Paver, founder of Paver Shoes.
