She's about to turn 24, but she won't be having a blowout bash. Marie Claire's May cover girl explains why she hates being the centre of attention...

Kristen Stewart is not like most celebrities. She doesn't crave attention, relish the limelight or pull publicity stunts to keep her name in the papers.

In fact, if she had it her way, she'd fly under the radar completely.

In the May issue of Marie Claire, our new cover girl explains why she doesn't put on an overly bubbly facade while doing interviews or TV spots.

'I'm just not very good at TV, and it's not my main goal in life to get good at it,' she says. 'People are like, "She just can't handle" - for lack of a better word - "the spotlight." No, actually I can't, and that is who I am.'

But it's not just in professional appearances that make her a bit uncomfortable.

'I love being an actor, but I'm the last person person to want to have a birthday party,' she says. 'I don't try to force it or fabricate this personality... So I totally agree when people say I'm, like, the most awkward person.'

If you'd like acknowledge Kristen's upcoming 24th birthday, might we suggest a low-key card rather than an over-the-top surprise bash?

During her sitdown with MC, Kristen also dished about her closest friends and her totally refreshing outlook on love. For the full interview, pick up the May issue of Marie Claire on newsstands now.
