It’s a love story, baby just say yes…
Asking a celebrity to be your bridesmaid is the kind of thing that could go one of two ways. Option one; they, being the egotistical millionaire megastar that they are, totally steal your thunder, ensuring that all eyes are on them and even your own granny forgets who you are on your big day. Or two; they use their powers for good, adding just a sprinkle of stardom to proceedings by doing something nice, like serenading you or making a speech.
Luckily for bride Britany Maack, her best friend Taylor Swift was the latter of these celebrity bridesmaid kinds. And now the video of Taylor’s maid of honour speech has been released online and the words (like song lyrics, you might say) have got the internet all choked up.
When Taylor takes to the mic, she starts off by reminiscing about BFF Britany’s first meetings with her husband-to-be Benjamin LaManna.
‘He would chase her and pursue her through middle school and junior high and high school, and their paths would diverge, and then come back together,’ she tells the hooked crowd at the gorgeous reception, held in Reading, Pennsylvania.
‘It would be so magically unpredictable, but at the same time, so incredibly fated just like the best love stories are.’ Wow.
‘All that's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess…’ Wait, sorry, no, that last part was actually a T-Swift song lyrics.
‘My favourite accomplishment of my entire life is that everything in my life has changed except for me and Britany,’ Taylor continued.
‘She was my partner in crime at Brownie's sleepaway camp and she was my date to the Grammys. And little did either of us know that prince charming for Britany would be the kid that sat next to me in class with a bowl cut and a Lego lunchbox.’
