Simon Cowell has a new girlfriend!

The X Factor judge has found himself a new leading lady in make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy.

Media mogul Simon Cowell has found himself a new ladyfriend.

Mezhgan Hussainy is guaranteed to keep him looking young and fresh, not necessarily because she makes him feel ten years younger, but because she's a make-up artist and can make him look that way.

The X Factor judge's new squeeze was born in Afghanistan but escaped with her family after the Soviets invaded in 1979 and the Taliban rose to power. The family settled in America and as a young girl Mezhgan - whose name means eyelashes in Persian - would give the women in her block manicures and experiment with make-up styles.

From these humble beginnings, she maintained an interest in beauty and by 2003 was doing the judges' make-up on American Idol. She met Simon on the hit show but it was only after his split from Terri Seymour that they became romantically involved.

'Simon and Mezhgan started off as friends, but it has started to develop into something more,' a source close to Cowell told the Daily Mail.

'She is a great girl, she is down to earth and not in the least bit star-struck. They get on extremely well.'

Indeed, after doing his make-up and grooming backstage on American Idol, 36-year-old Mezhgan says that Simon - famed for his withering put-downs - is 'a piece of cake' and that 'his bark is much bigger than his bite'.

As for Simon's opinion of Mezhgan, he says: 'She is the best at what she does. She makes me look very handsome'.
