Ryan Gosling will grace the silver screen at the Cannes festival this summer

Ryan Gosling and his rather flawless face are coming comfortingly closer to us this summer as the star’s latest film, Only God Forgives, is to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival. The drama will compete for the coveted Palme d'Or award at the prestigious event held in the South of France.

And we’re not complaining about that! Those lucky enough to grace the Cannes red carpet will be treated to a screening of Ryan Gosling’s film where he stars opposite Kristen Scott Thomas.

Only God Forgives reunites Ryan with Drive director, Nicolas Winding Refn and judging by the story line it’s set to be a gritty ride. Set in Bangkok it follows Julian, played by Ryan Gosling, as he runs a Thai drug operation although his world changes when his brother is murdered.

Julian’s mother, Jenna (Kristin Scott Thomas) then orders him to seek revenge for the death that leads to a bloody journey of redemption. Unfortunately this news doesn’t mean we’ll get to see Ryan’s new film any sooner, it will open in the UK later this summer – needless to say though, we can’t wait!
