It was Ryan to the rescue when the A-list actor stepped in to stop a scuffle in the American capital

Ryan to the rescue! A-list actor Ryan Gosling did his good deed for the day in New York yesterday, when he stepped in to break up a fight.

The star was strolling through the city alone when a disturbance broke out – and instead of walking on by, Ryan stepped straight in to stop the scuffle.

It’s thought the men were arguing over a painting in St Mark's Place when the fight began, forcing the Notebook actor to set down his shopping bags and intervene.

‘There is a man who sells paintings on that corner,’ one onlooker told American magazine Us Weekly.

‘This older man ran by him and tried to grab and run away with one of his paintings. The painter was able to stop him before he took off with him and tackled him to the ground.

‘Before it got too violent a stranger appeared to separate them,’ the source continued. ‘[The stranger] was Ryan Gosling! He was trying to understand the situation while keeping them from hurting each other.’

And it gets better.

The witness explains the actor took the troublesome two ‘to the corner of the street, like a chaperone,’ before asking them to explain the story.

And when things became heated again? 'Ryan put a stop to it, then he asked, 'How much is the painting?'"

Ryan gave him a $20 and said, “Does this cover what the man owes you?” The painter thanked him and said yes,’ the witness added. ‘Ryan said good, and continued on his way.’

Good for him!
