Robert Pattinson will hunt down the former dictator in new movie Mission: Blacklist, according to reports
After finishing work on Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 and Cosmoplis, we were starting to wonder what Robert Pattinson could possibly do next. And now we know. The actor has reportedly signed on to star in dramatic new movie Mission: Black List – about the man who tracked down Saddam Hussein.
Choosing a role that couldn’t be further from his softly spoken Twilight alter-ego Edward Cullen, it seems our favourite heartthrob’s about to get gritty.
According to reports, Pattinson will star as American army interrogator Eric Maddox in the new movie, the man who played a key role in the tracking of Saddam Hussein, and his eventual arrest in December 2008.
Based on a book written by Maddox himself, it’s thought the chilling flick, described as a ‘psychological thriller’ will be produced Ross M Dinerstein, and has been adapted for screen by Erik Jendresen, also responsible for Band of Brothers.
‘This movie is a gripping, edge-of-your-seat thriller,’ M. Dinerstein said in a statement about the film, according to movie website Deadline.
‘I have been inspired by Robert and Jean-Stephane’s dedication to tell this story in the most authentic way possible.’
We’ll next see Rob at Cannes next month, where he’ll go head to head with girlfriend Kristen Stewart on the red carpet as they promote new movies Cosmopolis and On The Road.
Something tells us we’re about to see him in a whole new light..
