The ecstatic Olympic swimmer announced the news on Twitter over the weekend
Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington has revealed she is the 'happiest person ever,' after getting engaged to fellow athlete Harry Needs over the weekend.
The 24-year-old athlete, who announced she was retiring from competitive sports last month, took to Twitter to announce the happy news.
Revealing that 20-year-old Needs had popped the question, she wrote:'Had the best weekend ever!!! Thank you @Harryneeds for making me the happiest person ever right now #engaged #isaidyes.'
She later added: 'Had an amazing day with some amazing people! #happy #lucky'.
In an interview last year, Rebecca said she thought a wedding would be a long way off.
'He's only 20, bless him. If I ever mentioned marriage to him he'd be like, "I'm only a baby",' she said of her man.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
