The Duke of Cambridge gushed about his newborn son as he bid farewell to Anglesey yesterday

Prince William described his newborn son 'loud' and 'extremely good looking' as he bid farewell to North Wales before he moves his new family down to London.

The new father, who looked truly dad-ified in his outdoor jacket and v-neck sweater, was attending The Anglesey Show where he was greeted by well-wishers all wanting to catch a glimpse of the proud Prince.

'[George] is very loud and of course, extremely good looking,' he began, to the titters of the crowd. 'I thought search and rescue duties over Snowdonia were physically and mentally demanding but looking after a three-week old baby is right up there.'

Every time the Prince spoke of gorgeous George as a little bit of a handful, he followed closely with a compliment about their new bundle of joy.

He said: 'He's lovely. There's been just a few sleepless nights but he's sleeping much better now.'

Though he said Prince George 'had his moments' and there'd been many sleepless nights for the new parents, the Prince seemed very relaxed and conceded that once a routine had been established Prince George had thankfully settled down.

The Duke of Cambridge spent a long afternoon at the agricultural event, which saw Prince William take part in cattle judging and falconry displays as well as take time to shake hands with visitors and speak at length to them.

In his speech, Prince William wished a fond farewell to the island of Anglesey, a place he said had been his and Kate's first home together and that they would both miss terribly.

The new trio are due to build their first family home at Kensington Palace in London this month when Prince William returns to work.

Prince William also revealed that he and Kate Middleton plan to take their newborn son to Australia next year, in what will be Prince George's first ever trip abroad.

The Duke of Cambridge will be following in the footsteps of his late mum Princess Diana, who took Prince William on a tour of the country when he was just nine months old.

We do love an appearance by Prince William, but we really need to see what he means by 'good looking'. Hurry up with those official baby portraits, you two...
