The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced that they are expecting their third child.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are already parents to four-year-old Prince George, and two-year-old Princess Charlotte, but today it was revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton are expecting their third child.
Kensington Palace released a statement on Twitter, saying: ‘The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child.
‘Their royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child. The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.
‘As with her previous two pregnancies, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Her Royal Highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Homsey Road Children’s Centre in London today. The Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace.’
Earlier this year, a friend of Kate and William revealed that the couple were keen to have another baby as soon as possible in order to give their two children another sibling to grow up with.
During their royal tour in Poland, Kate hinted that she might be expecting a third child. Julia Sielicka-Jastrzebska, co-founder of Whisbear, said at the time: ‘We gave the Duchess some presents for Prince George and Princess Charlotte [and] she said they should have more babies, and they laughed.’
The news comes just days after the princes honoured their late mother, Diana, on the 20th anniversary of her death.
No further information regarding due dates has been announced, but assuming that they have made the announcement after 12 weeks we could be expecting the patter of tiny royal feet in March next year.
We are so happy for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – and we can’t wait to meet the little one!
