  • See the amazing moment Prince makes his New Girl cameo. Zooey Deschanel and Jake Johnson will make your day...

Prince’s upcoming cameo in New Girl just got more exciting (definitely possible), with the release of a new teaser clip.

Zooey Deschanel successfully manages to capture our disbelief and joy in the debut trailer, which sees her wailing at the sight of Prince.

The Purple Rain singer doesn’t actually speak a word in the 14-second video, but that doesn’t stop Jess and Nick (played by the lovely Jake Johnson) screaming their loved-up socks off.

We’re guessing Prince rushes to Nick’s rescue as the clip cuts off, as the overwhelmed character faints and falls to his feet. Oh, Nick.

Revealing more details about Prince’s soon-to-be-legendary appearance on the FOX comedy, show creator Liz Meriwether told TV Guide: ‘[Jess is] goofy and out there, and he’s this wise, quiet sort of oracle. Nick’s a huge Prince fan. He’s immediately like, ‘It’s an honour to give you my girlfriend’.’

‘He contacted us last season because he’s a huge fan,’ executive producer Brett Baer previously told E! News. ‘He knows everything about the show. He contacted Zooey [Deschanel] and Hannah [Simone] directly and asked to do the show.

‘We couldn’t work it out last year. But when the Super Bowl thing was floated, it was perfect timing.’

Prince is gearing up to meddle with Jess and Nick’s relationship during the show’s Super Bowl special, and judging by the awkward picture posted to Zooey Deschanel’s Instagram last week, he makes a good job things.

Prince’s New Girl cameo will air on FOX in American on Sunday 9 February after this year’s Super Bowl.
