Oscar Nominations 2014: Jennifer Lawrence Leads The Race For An Academy Award

    Oscars 2014 nominations are in, and Jennifer Lawrence is set to continue her awards season success alongside fellow hopefuls Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock.

    Chris Hemsworth dusted off his finest suit to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences president, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, to announce the full list of nominees today.

    Much like the 2014 Golden Globes, American Hustle, 12 Years A Slave, The Wolf of Wall Street and Gravity go head-to-head in the Best Picture category. With Nebraska, Philomena and Dallas Buyers Club, Her and Captain Phillips completing the line-up for the top gong.

    Jennifer Lawrence faces competition from Sally Hawkins, Lupita Nyong’o, Julia Roberts and June Squibb for the Best Supporting Actress gong.

    American Hustle‘s Bradley Cooper is nominated for Best Supporting Actor alongside Michael Fassbender, Barkhad Abdi, Jonah Hill and Jared Leto.

    Leonardo DiCaprio is nominated for Best Actor, alongside Christian Bale, Bruce Dern, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Matthew McConaughey. Could this FINALLY be the year lovely Leo takes home a golden statue? We hope so.

    Cate Blanchett and Amy Adams secured nominations for Best Actress, as well as Sandra Bullock, Judi Dench and Meryl Streep.

    Ellen DeGeneres will host the 86th Academy Awards on Sunday 2 March, which will take on a heroes theme, celebrating heroes from real-life and the big-screen.

    ‘We wanted to unify the show with an entertaining and emotional theme,’ producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said of the glitzy ceremony.
