Simon Cowell ensured the heartthrob boy band - who have already made an appareance on the talent show this season - would boost the show's finale ratings by inviting the group to return to their roots (they came third in 2010's X Factor UK) and perform for night two of the X Factor US final, which saw L.A. Reid's 'over 25' contestant, Tate Stevens, a 37-year-old road worker and father-of-two, declared the winner.

Adorable as ever, the boys dressed in black jeans, white trainers and variations on the white shirt and navy jacket look, with Liam wearing a waistcoat, Niall choosing a satin-pocket tee, Harry and Louis in tux jackets and Zayn wearing a sporty bomber as they performed new single Kiss You standing in front of - and on top of - a pair of giant red lips as they whipped the crowd into a cheering, screaming frenzy.

We're sure that suggestive backdrop had more than one fan fantasising about a snog with a beloved One Direction singer... although perhaps not Harry Styles. The 18-year-old looks to be officially off the market and smitten with Taylor Swift after the two have been spotted kissing, on a romantic mini-break in the UK and hitting an LA tattoo parlour together earlier this week.
