Nicole Richie donates her baby gifts to charity

NICOLE RICHIE HAS used her baby shower as an opportunity to donate gifts to charity.

The star, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Joel Madden in January, held a Wizard of Oz-themed baby shower at the weekend and saw it as the perfect chance to do her bit for a good cause.

The couple will donate baby gifts to 100 expectant, less fortunate families, through the recently established Richie Madden Foundation. The foundation was created through the Los Angeles Free Clinic, which provides free healthcare and social services to people in need.

One guest at the shower, actress Rashida Jones, said: 'It's really sweet. With all the swag these days, we're given so much stuff it's almost wasteful, and it's kind of nice when we're giving to each other to give to someone else.'
