Miley Cyrus And Madonna – Why Their Surprising Duet Actually Makes A Lot Of Sense

Here's how Miley Cyrus is toning down her performance with a little help from Madonna...

Miley Cyrus is set to make like Britney Spears, after bagging a stripped-back duet with Madonna.

The rebellious duo are reportedly teaming up for Miley’s upcoming instalment of MTV Unplugged, with the pair said to be rehearsing in Hollywood this week.

But is the collaboration all that unexpected? Not really.

The Wrecking Ball singer isn’t too dissimilar from legendary Madge, given her penchant for a fierce pop hook, teeth grills and raunchy stage costumes. Miley has even likened her risk-taking attitude to the Material Girl songstress in the past.

But it looks like Miley could be toning things DOWN for the surprise duet, with MTV commenting: ‘The performance will showcase a more intimate side of Cyrus and feature special guests for an unexpected re-invention of the songs that have defined her career, including several from her #1 critically acclaimed album, Bangerz.

‘Miley and her fans have always had an intimate and direct connection through her music, personality and no-holds-barred attitude and the ‘Unplugged’ stage will serve as the perfect for her to show viewers what inspires and ignites her music and her passions.’

Talking after her controversial performance with Robin Thicke at the 2013 MTV VMAs, Miley was quick to compare herself to Madonna.

‘Last night, I was talking about some Madonna performances, and I said, ‘At some point, everything becomes irrelevant,’ she told the New York Times. ‘Like, no one even things about wen she did ‘Like a Virging’ at the VMAs.

‘That just becomes a standard, where it’s just like, ‘Oh, that’s her thing.’ So, I feel like now that I did the VMAs, that just kind of became a standard for me, and then anything I do anything else, they’re like, ‘Miley kept it tame tonight’.’

Miley Cyrus: MTV Unplugged will air tomorrow night (29 January) in America. Expect plenty of Twitter action from the duo as they film the show tonight.
