The Twilight leading lady has not been approached for the new Superman movie, her rep has confirmed

It looks like Kristen Stewart isn't set to swap Edward Cullen for Clark Kent – the actress's rep has quashed rumours that she'll play Lois Lane in the new Superman flick.

Despite reports that the Stewart was in the running, with some claiming she had already turned down the coveted role, her rep tells People that there's no truth in the whispers.

'There are a number of fabricated stories circulating. The fact is that she has not met on this film nor has she been approached for this film,' her rep stated.

Since Brit actor Henry Cavill bagged the role as the new Superman, Hollywood has been eager to report which leading lady will score the role as his reporter love interest, with rumoured names including Jessica Biel, Rachel McAdams, Dianne Agron and Malin Akerman.

As for Ms Stewart, she continues to film the final installments of the vampire saga – Breaking Dawn Part 1 and 2 – plus, will be seen in the highly-anticipiated Jack Kerouac adaptation, On the Road.
