Reality TV starlet Kim Kardashian is to file for divorce from basketball player hubby Kris Humphries just 72 days after their wedding, it has been confirmed.

Kim and Kris married at a private residence in California on August 20, in one of the biggest celebrity ceremonies of the year.

Kim wore the first of her three Vera Wang bridal gowns to walk down the aisle on the arm of stepfather Bruce Jenner, watched by friends, family and a host of famous faces.

But it seems the romance wasn’t to be.

Rumours their relationship was on the rocks began to surface almost as soon as their marriage began, with the pair rarely spotted out together and Kim admitting it ‘wasn’t ideal’.

And now it’s been confirmed the eldest Kardasian will file for divorce – just 72 days after her lavish wedding.

Media mogul and producer of Kim’s E! reality shows - which include Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Kim and Kourtney Take New York – broke the news on Twitter, telling fans a full statement was to come.

'Yes @KimKardashian is filing for divorce this morning,’ he wrote. ‘I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins.’

It’s thought the starlet has hired top divorce Laura Wasser, who has worked with A-listers Britney Spears and Angelina Jolie, and will cite ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the split.

Seacrest has yet to release a full split statement.
