Fine dining of Yorkshire pudding and pie as singer hits Sheffield
International superstar Katy Perry has declared her love for Yorkshire puddings and pie, after jetting into Sheffield for the latest leg of her tour.
The ‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer took to her twitter page to enthuse about the local cuisine she has enjoyed in her ‘beloved’ England.
‘FINALLY! Beloved ENGLAND! 1st thing I did was stuff me gob w/some yorkshire puddings & meat pies from Silversmiths in Sheffield. Ah bless’ she tweeted.
‘California Girl’ Katy, who is married to British comedian Russell Brand, was also keen to learn about the Steel City’s history.
Justin Rowntree, owner of Silversmiths- which featured on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares two years ago- said: ‘Katy was very interested in how we got our name Silversmith’s and was intrigued to hear about Sheffield’s history of cutlery manufacturing.
‘Then she tucked into a meal. We first introduced her to Yorkshire pudding. She thought it was funny that we ate pudding as starters but once she got her head round it Katy loved it.’
After gorging on the traditional British banquet, Perry was taken to Sheffield Arena where she played a sellout show.
