Kate Middleton and Prince William have been voted the most inspirational couple of the year, in a new survey

Kate Middleton and Prince William have been voted the most inspiration couple of the year in a new survey, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Hollywood royalty Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and actual royalty, the Queen and Prince Phillip.

The Duke and Duchessof Cambridge topped the hotlist in a survey of 2000 Brits, carried out by Travelodge.

'It’s the first time we have seen three generations of royal couples make the top ten listing of most inspiring romantic couples,' Travelodge, representative Shakila Ahmed said of Kate Middleton and Prince William's top spot on the survey.

'This year’s listing reveals that Britons are looking up to established couples in a solid relationship as role modes, for inspiration to enhance their romantic relationship.'

Following William and Kate on the list came David and Victoria Beckham, while Jay-Z and Beyonce, and Brad and Angelina feature further down on the list.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart also make an appearance, in the guise of their Twilight alter egos, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen.
