Johnny Depp agrees to star in fourth Pirates movie
Johnny Depp has agreed to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth film in the super-successful Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Studio bosses at Disney, the company behind the movie series, are reportedly delighted that Depp has agreed to return to the film franchise as the quirky buccaneer, whom Johnny says he modelled on The Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards.
The mega-hit movies, based on a popular ride at one of Disney’s theme parks, has so far earned a whopping $2.6 billion at the box office, and are directed by Hollywood big-hitter, Jerry Bruckheimer.
And it’s not the only deal Johnny’s put his name to at Disney. The gorgeous star has also agreed to play the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s much-anticipated big-screen version of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, scheduled for release in 2010.
What’s more, Johnny will also star as Tonto, the Indian sidekick of The Lone Ranger, in a movie version of the 50s Western TV series.
The casting deals were this week announced by Walt Disney Studios, along with several other films the company is planning to make, including a sequel to the fabulous animation, Cars.
