Ivanka Trump had a fleeting romance with a totally unexpected Hollywood star

'It wasn't a political statement.'

Apparently the Other First Lady Ivanka Trump used to have a romantic dalliance with somebody you’ve definitely seen on telly before, but never would have clocked as her type. It turns out that cutie patootie Topher Grace - a.k.a. Eric Foreman from That 70s Show - and Ivanka once fluttered their eyelashes and went on a couple of dates together before settling down with their current partners.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Topher confirmed the fleeting relationship ‘reluctantly’, stating, ‘Uh… I did. Certainly it wasn’t a political statement. This was a decade ago. I met her here in New York and we went on a couple of dates.’

If you can cast your mind way, way back to 2006, the two were spotted having dinner for Ivanka’s 25th birthday alongside fellow That 70s Show star Wilmer Valderamma. They then reportedly moved onto Pure nightclub in Las Vegas, which had the most early 2000s guest list including Ryan Cabrera, Adam Levine and Chelsea Handler.

Topher and Ivanka were apparently spotted canoodling on a VIP bed during the club celebrations while he wore a Teen Wolf mask. (Also side note: everything about that sentence has given us life. A bed in a club? A Teen Wolf mask? Amazing.)

Topher dodged leading questions about Ivanka’s ties to the current White House administration, saying, ‘I wouldn’t say that we ‘dated,’ but… I didn’t do it for political reasons.’

He also added that he had ‘never met her father’ and to be honest, we’d consider missing out on a meeting with President Donald Trump a blessing in disguise. Topher did describe Trump’s administration as a ‘daily deluge’ of scandals though, which probably hasn’t won him any points with Ivanka’s father. We’re waiting on the all caps tweet and another outrageous Donald Trump quote now.

While Ivanka and Topher were unfortunately two ships passing in the night, the pair have since settled down with different partners. Ivanka married Jared Kushner back in 2009, while Topher wound up settling down with Ashley Hinshaw in 2016 who he’s still married to today.

To be honest, the idea of Eric Foreman bumbling around the White House and trying to negotiate foreign policy definitely has us in giggles. Just - uh - nobody let Ashton Kutcher’s character Michael near the big red button.
