The A-lister contracted the deadly disease during a recent trip to Africa
A-lister George Clooney contracted Malaria during a recent trip to Africa, and has been battling the disease in secret, a spokesman for the star revealed.
The Ocean’s Eleven heartthrob contracted the deadly bug – his second bout so far – during a trip to Sudan in the first week of January, in his role as UN Peace Ambassador.
Fans were only alerted to his condition when show host Piers Morgan Tweeted to fans, after interviewing the star.
‘George Clooney has contracted malaria following recent trip to Sudan. Taking medication but feeling rough,’ he wrote.
Luckily, after a 10-day battle with Malaria, lovely Mr Clooney has made a full recovery.
And now he’s using his brush with the deadly disease to draw attention to the often fatal condition.
‘George is completely over the Malaria he contracted while in the Sudan during the first week in January,’ a spokesman for the star revealed.
‘This was his second bout with it,’ the spokesman added. ‘This illustrates how with proper medication, the most lethal condition in Africa, can be reduced to a bad ten days instead of a life sentence.’
Earlier this year, songstressCheryl Cole contracted Malaria, after a trip to Tanzania with rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough.
‘I thought I was going to die,’ she revealed of suffering the disease. ‘I actually thought I was going to die. I thought if I’m going to die I want to die soon because I was in so much pain.’
