With only one year until its release, it seems the Fifty Shades of Grey movie adaptation might not be a star-studded affair
Fifty Shades of Grey the movie has yet to secure its leading roles, as it’s emerged that an international casting call was opened to find Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey on 3 August.
According to The Inquistr, audition site ActingAuditions.org published an open casting call asking actors to submit headshots and resumés to Universal Pictures for the prospective male and female roles, leading us to think that the star-studded cast we were all hoping for is far from a reality.
Focus Features, the production company behind the movie adaptation of E L
James’ record-selling book, tweeted a teaser on 1 Aug to say that the
film was only one year away from release.
With such short notice,
we can’t help but feel like the huge stars we’ve tipped (and prayed) to
play Christian Grey, are nothing short of wishful thinking. We can’t imagine Ryan Gosling or Eddie Redmayne will have time in their busy schedules to climb into Christian’s ripped jeans and film scenes in the Red Room Of Pain. *Sigh*
Henry Cavill (Man Of Steel), Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia), Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries) and many more huge Hollywood stars have all been banded about to play the lead male in Fifty Shades of Grey.
Interestingly, the brief included in the casting call is very specific. For Anastasia, the production company asks for a very beautiful, caucasian 20-25-year-old – while Christian must be 25-33, extremely good-looking, sexy and confident.
Yes, this is what we were hoping for.
There is also a specification that the actors be available to work in the UK, fuelling speculation that part of the film will be shot in this country.
Though she has remained tight-lipped about the cast throughout, E L James revealed last month that she is pleased with the roles put in place for production on Fifty Shades Of Grey.
She said: ‘That’s the wonderful thing about doing it this way, is you compile a team who really know what they’re doing, who are incredibly talented, and you listen to what they have to say. As for Sam Taylor-Johnson, I saw both of her films, and I was blown away. Simple.’
Now these are some auditions we’d definitley like to watch. Oh, come on. You were thinking it too.
