Donald Trump has weighed in on the Meghan Markle bullying and his thoughts on Prince Harry

Meghan Markle has had an extremely full-on year, facing an unprecedented endless stream of online bullying since becoming a royal, attacking everything from her family and race to her body and parenting.

‘I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces’, Prince Harry announced last month, as the couple pursued legal action against the tabloids that had ‘bullied’ the former Suits actress.

‘There comes a point when the only thing to do is to stand up to this behaviour, because it destroys people and destroys lives. Put simply, it is bullying, which scares and silences people. We all know this isn’t acceptable, at any level. We won’t and can’t live in a world where there is no accountability for this.’

‘Look, any woman especially when they are pregnant you’re really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging, and then when you have a newborn – you know, and especially as a woman, it’s a lot,’ Meghan explained of the situation in the recent documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey. ‘So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mum or trying to be a newlywed it’s, well…And, also thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I’m OK. But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.’

Since the comments, high profile people have been leaping to Meghan’s defence, from Hillary Clinton, Jameela Jamil and Julie Andrews to female MPs from all parties and Kate Middleton, who is reportedly supporting her behind the scenes.

The latest high profile figure to voice their thoughts on the situation was a controversial one however, with Donald Trump addressing the recent tabloid bullying of the Duchess.

During an interview with Nigel Farage on radio show, LBC, Trump voiced his thoughts on the subject, suggesting that Meghan should take it less personally.

‘Well I’ve been watching her interviews and I’ve seen it and she’s taking it very personally,’ he explained during the radio conversation. ‘I guess you have to be a little bit different than that, but she’s taken it very, very personally and I can understand it but I don't know her.’

Prince Harry on the other hand, Trump thought was ‘a terrific guy’.
