If you wander down the Hollywood Walk of Fame, you’ll see a lot of names there including high profile actors, singers and politicians - though there’s now one controversial name that has been violently scrubbed off that list. Earlier today, it was revealed that a man wandered up to President Donald Trump’s Hollywood star and smashed it to smithereens with a pick axe.

In an image tweeted out by NBC’s Jonathan Gonzalez, you can clearly see the pickaxe lying on the ground beside the vandalised star which is literally unrecognisable.

He added, ‘Multiple people—including police—tell me a man walked up with a guitar case and pulled out the pickaxe. Then, it’s believed, he called police himself to report it, but left the scene before they got here. Now, he’s nowhere to be found.’

The man suspected of defacing the star has since turned himself into police, however his identity has yet to be revealed. The president has yet to respond to the act of vandalism, though we don’t doubt there’s going to be a fiery tweet or classic Donald Trump quote some time soon.

This isn’t the first time that Donald Trump’s star has been destroyed, as the star was previously destroyed in 2016 two weeks prior to his presidential win over Hillary Clinton. Back then, a man named Jamie Otis took a sledgehammer to the star and obliterated the president’s name from sight. However, Otis’ initial plan was to remove the star, auction it off and donate the proceeds to the women who had spoken out about Trump’s alleged sexual harassment.

The star was first laid back in 2007, those simpler times when Trump was best known for his hosting job on The Apprentice. Since his presidential win, it has become the site of many political art installations, which include an artist building a tiny wall around it to protest the Mexico-US border wall.
