Christian Grey may well be the most famous man never to have existed and it seems everyone is taking an interest in who will portray the billionaire S&M enthusiast in the film adaptation of EL James’s bestseller, Fifty Shades of Grey.
Author and screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis, who recently ruled himself out of writing the screenplay for 50 Shades of Grey, has revealed some insider information about the casting of the film.
In a Twitter posting to his 300,000 followers, he claimed that former porn star James Deen, star of Ellis’s latest project, The Canyons, has been tipped to play Christian Grey.

He tweeted: ‘Just got inside information that James Deen is actually in the running to play Christian in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' with E.L. James support.
'Fifty Shades of Grey' will be budgeted at 12-15 million and James Deen is on the list of actors to play Christian Grey according to source.

James Deen later told MTV News, ‘As far as 'Fifty Shades,' I have no comment at this time, other than I would love to be involved and hope I could get considered for the role.’
Universal recruited the team behind The Social Network, Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti, earlier this year to produce the film adaptation, but casting for the film's leads has been a closely guarded secret.
