Show execs are reportedly worried about Cheryl being unknown by US public, and have been considering more famous faces
Just weeks ago, US execs hinted songstress Cheryl Cole’s American dream was about to come true, hinting the songstress was on the verge of signing a golden contract to appear on the American version of the X Factor.
Now it’s thought show bosses could be getting cold feet, and are worried Cheryl’s not a big enough star in the states to appear on the show. Instead, they’ve been looking at hiring a bigger name for the judging panel, and are keener on using Rihanna or Katy Perry instead.
At the beginning of January, the rumour mill was alight with talk Cheryl had all but signed an American deal, after pal Simon Cowell encouraged studio heads to make her part of the judging panel.
‘Simon has been the only one pushing for her and trying to convince everyone that she’ll be a big hit,’ one insider told The Sun.
‘They want to see if the American public warm to her before she takes on such a high-profile role in one of the biggest shows on US TV.
‘There have been lots of heated conversations and debates about it.’
This may come as a blow to Mrs C, who was even spotted browsing LA pads on a business trip to the US earlier this year.
‘Everyone thinks Cheryl has the judging job on US X Factor in the bag,’ the insider added.
‘The truth is, nothing has been signed and the producers still aren’t convinced.
‘They are more keen to get a big US star like Katy or Rihanna on the panel – someone who will bring credibility to the show and who is already popular in the US.’
