She may have been sensationally axed from the US version of the X Factor, but it seems that Cheryl Cole’s American dream could be getting a boost after all with the news that she has landed a cameo appearance in Glee.
The Girls Aloud singer will reportedly follow in the footsteps of former guest stars Britney Spears, Eve and Gwyneth Paltrow and shoot an episode for the third series of the smash hit musical TV show, which airs on screens this autumn.
According to reports, Cheryl has her manager, Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am, to thank for securing her the Glee role as part of her bid to crack America, after he schmoozed top TV executives at the Fox television network, which produces the high school based show.
In another good sign for the pop star, Glee actor Matthew Morrison – who plays teacher Will Schuester – told Reveal magazine earlier this year that she had what it takes to make it in the States.
He said: ‘Cheryl is on the front of every newspaper and magazine in the UK. It’s not the same in America, but I still think she can crack it over there. She is a talented girl.’

Matthew added: ‘Appearing in Glee would be a good way for Cheryl to crack America. She was part of Fox when she was involved in US X Factor – they also make Glee. Maybe she will get an appearance – you never know!'
Cheryl’s foray into acting doesn’t end there. Will.i.am is also believed to be in talks to land the Geordie singer a cameo in the American comedy, How I Met Your Mother, as well as a part alongside Hollywood heavyweights Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez in the film, What to Expect When You’re Expecting.
