Is Britney Spears set to join X Factor USA judging panel?

Simon Cowell has added more fuel to the potential new judging line up...

Britney Spears is the latest name being touted as a possible judge on X Factor USA panel.

The singer has over a decade worth of experience in the music industry, so could certainly share some of her advice to pop star hopefuls, if the rumours of her joining the X Factor USA are true.

There are currently two vacant seats to fill alongside Simon Cowell and LA Reid, after Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were axed, and insiders say Britney, 30, is 'keen' to join the hit show.

'The timing is perfect. Brit would love to connect with fans on a weekly basis and loves working on TV after several guest appearances on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother,' an insider told the Sunday People.

A tight-lipped Simon Cowell has however, been careful not to give too much away. 'Are we flattered that there could be interest? Yes', he told US Weekly.

'I've learned a big lesson: keep your mouth shut. Don't give it all away.'

'There is a load of speculation,' added Cowell. 'Some true and some not true. It's true to say there are a lot more people who have entered the frame this year and we really waited to see who was going to contact us before we actually contacted people.'

'We are in that place right now, which is a good place to be. We will meet a number of people over the next few weeks.'

Fellow judge L.A. Reid has also kept quiet on the rumours, simply saying: 'The only thing you can count on is that we will likely have two girls.'
