The A-list actress is set to play the famous feline character in sequel The Dark Knight Rises
2011 is turning out to be a great year for Anne Hathaway… Not only is she co-hosting next month’s glittering Oscars ceremony, and set to film a guest spot in Glee, but now she’s been cast as the fiery new Catwoman in the upcoming Batman sequel.
The 28-year-old is gearing up to play Selina Kyle – the original Catwoman, who made her first apperance in the film franchise back in 1940.
New movie The Dark Knight Rises will see Christian Bale return as the lead, with Tom Hardy also joining the A-list cast as ‘one of Batman’s most formidable enemies,’ Bane – and will be once again directed by Christopher Nolan.
‘I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,’ says the director.
With the famous feline character having already been played by the likes of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry, we reckon Anne is more than up for the challenge.
She’s certainly got the figure to pull off a PVC catsuit, that’s for sure…
