Fashion legend Terry O'Neill has hailed Angelina Jolie as a modern day Marilyn Monroe
Angelina Jolie has been likened to a modern day Marilyn Monroe, with photographer Terry O’Neill stating that no other actress comes close in terms of timeless beauty.
The 78-year-old photographer, who has captured some of the world’s most iconic beauties during his hugely successful career in the fashion realm, had praised the Salt star as being the only 21st century Hollywood actress to possess the looks, elegance and grace of the classic screen sirens.
Lamenting the loss of timeless vintage beauties such as Marilyn and Ava Gardner in today’s world of throw-away fashion and fakery, Terry said:
‘Ava Gardner, Lana Turner, Marilyn Monroe, all of them were stunning. Now, they all seem the same.
‘The only one who really stands out is Angelina Jolie, a different class of girl altogether. She’s a stunning, beautiful woman – a rarity,’ he added in an interview with Contactmusic. We couldn’t agree more, Mr. O’Neill.
Not that the A-list actress, who is gearing up to wed her beautiful other half Brad Pitt, relies on her exquisite looks to get her ahead – in fact, 38-year-old Angelina has just returned to the director’s chair for the second time to film new movie, Unbroken.
Due for release in the UK in January 2015, the film will tell the real-life story of Louis ‘Louie’ Zamperini, her friend, Hollywood Hills neighbour – and a World War II hero.
Angelina says of film: ‘It will be hard to make a film worthy of this great man. I am deeply honoured to have the chance and will do all I can to bring Louie’s inspiring story to life. Everyone involved in the film shares this deep responsibility. Like all readers of Laura’s book and all people who love and admire Louie, I am a fan who has learned so much. He has made me a better person.’
Impossibly beautiful, an amazing mother and a true talent behind the lens? Angie really does have it all.
