Alexa Chung: Why can’t I be happy with the way I look?

Alexa Chung has suffered a lot of criticism about her weight and now she’s hit back

Alexa Chung was subjected to cruel jibes about her slender frame earlier this year, so much so the hurtful comments forced her to close down her social network accounts. But now the model has hit back asking, why can’t she be content with the way she looks?

In an interview with Fashionista she spoke of the unfairness that curvier celebrities aren’t slammed for saying they’re happy with their shapes, Alexa said: ‘But if I was to do that, I'd be completely criticised and ridiculed. But why can't I be happy with how I look?’

Despite such disparity in the reception of larger and slimmer stars, Alexa is pretty positive following her treatment by the press and public. She said: ‘I'm pleased I experienced that side of it, so I can learn to be a better person on the other side of it.

‘I just think that whole culture of hatred, and also feeling like it's your right to judge people when you don't know them, is really f****d up

‘I'm sure in the past I've been judgmental too. And it's difficult because sometimes people do have eating disorders, but you never know what's going on in someone's life so I'd say don't be quick to think you know.’

And Alexa didn’t stop there, she continued to talk about how disappointing it is that people focus on her weight adding: ‘I think it's about time people stopped judging women on their appearance and more on their intellect, like you can appreciate my style without having to appreciate my weight.’

We certainly do appreciate her style, that’s for sure.
