Over 400 years ago, Le Couvent des Minimes started its life as a beautiful ancient Convent in the village of Mane in the heart of Provence. In the 1600s it was inhabited by agroup of Botanist Monks from the brotherhood of the Minims, henceforth giving it the name “Le Couvent des Minimes”. The monks used their considerable knowledge of plants to tend to a garden of curative herbs and flowers. Duringthe French Revolution the monks were forced to leave the Convent and it wasleft deserted until 1862 when the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary moved in andtook over residence and upkeep of the convent. The sisters used the power of plants to nourish, heal and take care for the sick, elderly and the young. The emphasis on nourishing care through nature inspired Le Couvent des Minimes’ own simple yet powerful natural bodycare, skincare and fragrance recipes.
