The damage: £3 between midday and 1.30pm or 50p between 1.30 and 5pm (Sundays).
Best for doin’ it like a DJ: Brighton Marina, Brighton
Rock chicks and early starts aren’t usually a match made in heaven, but if you’re serious about your vinyl, it’s worth rising with the birds for this one. You’ll find vintage art among rare records – plus a healthy gust of seaside wind to blow away the cobwebs.
The damage: free; held between 7am and midday (Sundays).
Best for a closet cool-over: Princess May Primary School, London N16
This little gem, tucked away behind Stoke Newington Road, would be easy to dismiss. But dodge the broken cassette players and you’ll soon find barely worn trainers, designer accessories and vintage Babysham glasses.

Best for a vintage moment: Clanage Road, Bower Ashton, Bristol
Set in idyllic countryside, Clifton Car Boot has bric-abrac, books and views of Bristol. Must-tries include retro tea and cake stands, plus vintage make-up tutorials.
The damage: £1 from 9am (Sundays)
Best for designer swag: Pimlico Academy, London SW1
Stylist Faye Marriott set up her own car boot sale in 2010, and for that we are eternally grateful. Attracting a young, fashion-forward crowd, Isabel Marant and Burberry samples have been known.
The damage: £5 from 10.15am or £1 after 11.30am (Sundays).
