Forget everything you think you know, there’s one way of telling what makes a person ‘middle class’ and it has everything to do with the things they pack into their kitchen cupboards, apparently.
That’s right – you can tell a lot about a person from their weekly food shop. There’s reportedly something telling in buying a jar of hollandaise and shredless marmalade, and if you’ve got a Nespresso machine on top of that then you’re really hitting the middle class jackpot.
Team it with a Brita filter and a Nutribullet and there’s no denying it any longer. You’re a bit posh.
This is all according to etiquette and protocol expert William Hanson, who told Cosmopolitan.co.uk that if you have these items in your kitchen cupboard you’re technically middle class.
Do you have any of the following…?
- Hollandaise in a jar
- Nespresso machine
- Shredless marmalade
- Click and lock plastic containers
- Anything from Aldi or Lidl
- Brita filters
- Square plates
- The number of mugs is greater than cups and saucers
Why these are the middle class markers, we have no idea – surely Waitrose, the royally favoured supermarket, deserves a spot on this list? – but that’s what the expert reckons.
So now you know.
