I bought this Zara dress and so have at least 10 other people I know

I don't mean to brag, but I think I've found the perfect summer dress, and my friends all agree with me.

It all started when I visited the Zara showroom to take a peek at their summer collection. Amongst the many racks of pastel and neon goodies, this white number stood out to me immediately in its simplicity.

The spaghetti straps, slightly curved bodice and full skirt all gave it that classic-in-the-making potential.

It hadn't launched yet, so I waited and waited, refreshing the Zara website everyday until finally, it appeared, for the very friendly price of £39.99.

I tried it on yesterday when it arrived, and what can I say? It's even better than I remembered, and quite possibly the most flattering thing I've worn in a while. So excited was I that I immediately shared it on my stories, and got so many compliments.

In fact, at least 10 people I know have now either bought it or are about to, testament to the dress' power.

So my advice to you: get it before it sells out, you won't regret it.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
