This A-lister smuggled 40 ham sandwiches into the Golden Globes
And we love them even more for it.
And we love them even more for it.
The Golden Globes took place this week, with the 76th annual ceremony kicking off award season 2019 - and it did not disappoint.
The Beverly Hilton ceremony, this year hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg, was packed with hilarious and awkward moments, from Lady Gaga mocking her ‘100 people in a room’ line and Sandra Oh roasting Emma Stone on-stage, to that Jameela Jamil name mix-up.
As always the big Golden Globes problem is the food situ, with dinner not served during the ceremony so as to avoid clinking cutlery. But with drinks served, this can be problematic, something one A-lister took into her own hands this year.
Golden Globe nominee Melissa McCarthy smuggled 40 ham and cheese sandwiches (yes, 40) into the award ceremony, with the breaded snacks in question coming from Joan’s on Third, a cool sandwich bar on LA’s Third Street.
‘I’ve been handing them out to everyone,’ the Bridesmaids star told Variety. ‘Next year I’m bringing hot dogs’.
They certainly seemed to go down well, getting a lot of social media love and even getting a shoutout from Golden Globe winner Olivia Coleman. But the question on everyone’s mind - how on earth did she smuggle them in?

‘How did she get them in here?’, questioned actress Jessica Chastain, going on to explain why it was needed.
‘It’s a good idea because by the time you get into the ballroom dinner has already been served, and you’re always so hungry.’
We bow down to you Melissa McCarthy.
