Tiger Woods takes the blame for this weekend's crash as conspiracy theories abound....

Champion golfer Tiger Woods has caused a worldwide sensation after crashing his car into a tree near his Florida home in the early hours of Friday morning.

His black Cadillac Escalade was found by a neighbour who called 911, reporting that Woods was lying unconscious next to the vehicle. His wife, Elin Nordegren, was by his side, trying to revive him.

It appears that he became 'distracted' at the wheel, which led to the prang. 

But rumours have since abounded that the main reason Woods crashed was because he was trying to get away from Elin, who was trying to hit him with a golf club. It's been reported that the couple had a vicious bust-up following a story in the National Enquirer that Woods had cheated on his wife with 34 year old nightclub promoter Rachel Uchitel.

However, Woods last night released a statement blasting the 'false, unfounded and malicious rumours' and saying: 'This situation is my fault and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and not perfect.' 

But Woods and his wife have so far refused three requests from local police to be interviewed about the incident. Uchitel is denying all reports of an affair; the plot thickens....
