Nicole Kidman has launched a strange and rather bitter attack against ex-husband Tom Cruise, accusing him of wanting her to be 'seen and not heard'.

Despite having divorced some eight years ago, the pair have tended to keep their feelings about each other quiet, in public at least, but Nicole's latest interview makes it clear exactly how she feels about what went wrong in their marriage.

'I felt I became a star only by association,' she complained to Easy Living magazine. 'We would go to the Oscars and I would think, "I'm here to support him." I felt it was my job to put on a beautiful dress and be seen and not heard.'

Meanwhile, Nic calls new husband Keith Urban her 'greater love', although it appears her greatest love is reserved for her daughter.

'I can't bear to be separated from Sunday Rose,' she adds. 'That's why I haven't yet gotten a daytime nanny, but at some stage I probably will have one.'

However, the Moulin Rouge actress hasn't totally lose her sense of humour, speaking about her adopted children, she quips: 'Bella is very maternal. Connor would like one of us to have a boy. [Pauses.] Katie…? [Laughs].'

Sounds like someone was quiet jealous during her marriage to Tommy boy. Please don't become J. Aniston using your ex to get more attention.

i don't think she specifically said she was told by tom "be seen and not heard," she obviously thought since he was the bigger actor at the time and that her place was as a trophy wife, and her maintaining good parts was bc she was with him. it seems like it was something they just both became a part of, whether tom promoted it or she accepted it but she was obviously not very happy about that.

i don't think there is much question that tom c. likes to stay in total control of how the public perceives his life. and honestly, of all the breakups in the hollywoodland, she has spoken out about her divorce waaaay less than most. (no doubt because he forced her to sign a confidentiality agreement, hee hee).

Last time I checked Tom left you, you did not leave him so move on with you life. I've never even heard Tom mention your name. Every time you have a new movie or under a magazine you have mentioned Tom's name. What kind of mother are you going to be to your daughter. Stop digging at the past.

Yeah that didn't sound like an attack at all, much less a bitter one. I think it's more of an observation. It's not a great leap to imagine how she could have felt that way.

Given that he wanted his current wife to give birth without either drugs or making a sound, it wouldn't surprise me that he felt that Nicole should be seen and not heard. She's long been better off without him.

He is an ass. And Katie is definitely under his control. I'm glad Nicole finally felt she can speak up. That shows she has reached the point where she is confident enough in herself to tell the truth.

She needs to shut up! Most people only heard of Nicole Kidman when Tom Cruise married her. If he hadn't she'd probably be starring in some Aussie TV soap by now. I hate it when these celebrities keep banging on about their more famous ex's. The divorce was 8 years ago, she needs to move her life and stop being such a bitter woman.

I am so glad shes finished with Cruise before he takes over the world with his Scientology, and I feel very sorry for the down trodden, brain washed Katie Holmes, she should get out while she still can before her brain turns to mush, and she has no thoughts of her own. Cruise is a control freak.
