How to get into ...

Girls Aloud make-up line

Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Sarah Harding

Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts yesterday launched her own range of make-up, specifically for pale skin.

Revealed at London's Sketch, Roberts was joined by band mates Cheryl Cole and Kimberley Walsh for the event.

The red-headed singer took on the challenge of creating her own range as part of a television show for ITV entitled Passions, where each member of the band are aiming to fulfill a lifetime ambition.

These so far have included Sarah Harding learning to play polo, and Cheryl taking up street dancing.

For Roberts, the desire to create a range for pale skin came directly from her own problems at finding make-up for her skin tone. She commented, 'I know how difficult it can be to find the right sort of sexy look with the products already out there.'

Band mate Kimberley added, 'Nicola has really put her heart into producing her make-up range and she really hopes that she can help people who are also pale like her.'

Halleleuja at last a range for people who are not perma tanned or dark skinned. I am Irish with dark hair, blue eyes and pale skin and we seem to have been totally forgotten by the makeup ranges until now, thanks Nicola at last for making us not feel neglected. I prefer the pale and interesting look, like Dita and the pale girl from charmed, they look sexy and alluring and different, prepared to look unique not like everyone else. Come on magazines, follow her lead, every makeover in your mags neglects, dark hair and pale skin,it does exist.

My daughter and I have just watched Nicola's launch programme on ITV3 and it was good to see that someone is doing something for girls with lighter complexions. My daughter is around the same colouring as Nicola and has terrible time finding foundations that look right on her and so far has not found one which is ideal. It takes someone with a pale complexion to come up with the right make-up as they really know what they are talking about. Well done Nicola and we hope it's a good success for you. Now we've just got to find out where to but it.

All the best

thank you thank you thank you nicola!!! at last someone has had the guts to make a stand for us ladies with porcelain complexions!!! i have black hair and the same skin tone as nicola and finding a good base to match my skin tone is pretty much impossible!! it seems that the fashion industry has decided that we are not worth helping and that we should all book ourselves in for the nearest spray tan!!! how is it that these stereotypes of bronze is best and pale is 'weird' still exist??!!! can you honestly say that Dita von Teese isn't gorgeous??!! thank you nicola!!

This is fantastic. I've been looking for a foundation that matched my skin tone for the last 20 years! Even with the trend for 'Pale and Interesting' there was never anything that came close. I'm looking forward to being able to wear make-up like all my not-so-pale girlfriends. Congratulations Nicola!

I totally agree, this is absolutely brilliant! There are plenty of ranges out there for dark skinned women but none at all for fair skinned...and yes, each range has a "fair" option but they are usually stupidly dark! I am so glad that finally i will be able to wear proper makeup - anyone got any ideas where and when this new range will go on sale?

great. whats the make up actually called i cant find the name of it any where to buy it ?
Comment by Tessa on April 07 21:06

I have a very pale skin tone and white blonde hair and finally there is a range to suit girls like me.
I love being this pale but I want to enhance my colour not change it to orange or bronzed.
Thank you so much I know so many people will love this range. Say goodbye to tide mark foundation lines on our cheeks!

This is brilliant, I'm SO happy someone has finally done this!! It's called Dainty Doll (which is also a cool name!) and is out on April 18th to buy from a website called jelly pong pong apparently. Woo! I heart being pale!
Comment by Helen on April 08 10:59

Wahoo! I'm counting down the days until I can buy some foundation that actually matches my natural skin tone! It's available to buy on Jelly pong pong's website from 18th April. Lets start the pale and interesting revolution!

I am soooo grateful to you Nicola, well done!!! we are so fed up by being dictated the colours by the make up industry as opposed to picking what we really like! I cannot wait to purchase your range of products. Pale skin is the new tanning, just compare Dita Von Dess star like to orange skins like Lindsey Lohan definitely classier.
you're a breath of fresh air
