And we are very happy for them.

It looks like congratulations are in order for Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife, Sophie Hunter, as it is announced that the couple have welcomed their second child.

According to reports, the couple have kept their news under wraps, becoming parents for the second time three weeks ago, with Sophie giving birth to a baby boy at Portland Hospital, London, on 3rd march.

Although the two have not yet spoken out about the baby news, they have reportedly chosen a particularly special name for their son, calling him Hal, the nickname given to Henry V in Shakespeare’s plays, arguably a nod to Benedict’s thespian background.

Benedict, 40, and Sophie, 39, announced that they were expecting a child last October, with a representative for the couple confirming, ‘everybody is absolutely thrilled’.

The couple, who married on Valentine’s Day, welcomed their first child, a boy named Christopher Carlton, in June 2015, announcing a joint statement:

‘Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son. We would kindly ask to respect the family’s privacy over the next few weeks.’

Congratulations to Benedict and Sophie on their growing Cumberbatch brood.
