Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter have welcomed their first child...

Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter have confirmed their infant son's name, nearly three months after he was born.

Just in case you missed it, Benedict and Sophie welcomed their first child back in June and have named him Christopher Carlton.

The classic name is said to be after the 38-year-old's character in the WWI drama Parade's End, while the baby's middle moniker is a family name that he shares with his dad Benedict and grandfather Timothy.

No word yet on if Christopher will be taking his father's surname or will hyphenate with mum Sophie's maiden name but if they do go down the traditional route then we'll obviously be calling him CCC for short!

The Cumberbaby was born on Saturday 13 June and Cumberb*tches everywhere took to Twitter to share the couple’s joy (in emojis, of course).

‘Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son,’ a spokesperson for the couple said. ‘We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during these next few precious weeks.’

The couple tied the knot on the Isle Of Wight on Valentines Day this year, after announcing that they were expecting back in January.

'I was happy as an only child, but I’ve always wanted to be part of a bigger family,’ Benedict previously told Event magazine. ‘I would love to have children. I can’t wait to do an interview like this and just talk about my child.’

In what has got to be one of the best weekends ever for the Oscar-nominated actor, Benedict was also named a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to the performing arts.

A new baby and a new title? Congratulations to the new Cumberbatch family!
