Here's who will be following Meghan down the aisle

With just under two months to go until their big day, fresh details are emerging about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding. The first invites have been sent out and the couple's quirky choice of a lemon and elderflower cake from Hackney's Violet Bakery has been revealed.

Now Kensington Palace has announced who will be joining Meghan Markle's bridal party on 19th May. Markle has a wide circle of high profile friends, including tennis star Serena Williams, actress Prianka Chopra, stylist Jessica Mulroney and fashion designer Misha Noonoo, but much like the couple's decision to open up their wedding to 2600 members of the public, Meghan's list of bridesmaids is unusually inclusive, reflecting some new friendships she's formed since meeting Harry.

Few will be surprised at Meghan's choice of Mulroney as a bridesmaid. The pair have been best friends since Markle was introduced to Mulroney after relocating to Canada to film Suits. As the daughter of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and a stylist to Justin Trudeau's wife, Mulroney will be the ideal wingman to Markle on her big day.

A good friend of the tennis ace, Markle attended Williams' wedding to Alex Ohanian last year. The pair first met at a charity game of flag football in 2014. 'We hit it off immediately, taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game we were both playing in, and chatting not about tennis or acting, but about all the good old fashioned girly stuff,' Meghan wrote about Williams on her former lifestyle website The Tig, 'so began our friendship.'

Made In Chelsea's Frankie Gaff

Gaff recently announced on Twitter that she was leaving Made In Chelsea to pursue other projects. MIC fans are now speculating that her part in the royal wedding could have influenced this decision.

Matisse, the dog from Britain's Got Talent

An unconventional choice, but one that makes sense given Harry and Meghan's shared love of animals. Harry has been close with Matisse since his victorious performance at the Royal Variety Show in 2015 and introduced the 7-year-old Border Collie to Meghan shortly after their relationship began last year.

The woman in the pink coat

33-year-old Lindsay Walsh hit it off with Markle over the barriers when the couple attended an event earlier this month in Northern Ireland. 'We talked for at least five minutes. Some of the other people waiting got a bit annoyed with me' Walsh says of the encounter, 'I'm now really looking forward to getting to know her better.'

This swan

Regent's Park swan Laura Matthews was delighted to get the call up for the royal wedding. 'It makes a change from gliding about hissing at small children' she said.

**yes this was an April fool, but FWIW Jessica Mulroney and the Regents Park swan are both credible options
