Sarah Palin mania sweeps America after Vogue shoot

First it was Sarah Palin's spectacles that were making headlines in America and now it's the fact the Republican vice president candidate has already graced the pages of US Vogue magazine that is causing a stir Stateside.

'Palinmania' has swept across America and style-conscious female voters everywhere are turning their attentions and, possibly, allegiance to the Alaska Governor. Forget Hillary Clinton's trouser suits, Cindy McCain's Oscar de la Renta outfit and Michelle Obama's take on the Jackie O shift dress, now it's Sarah Palin's time to steal the limelight.

Her Kawasaki 704 glasses frames and upswept hairdos are now the talking point of the beauty queen turned politician. So could she now be in danger of veering away from the issues that matter?

However, the bouffant hairdo, the black satin jackets and the whiter than white smile have all taken centre stage and the crowds are queuing up to get a piece of the Palin action.

One US voter described McCain's choice of Palin as his running mate a 'stroke of genius' and another a 'clever chess move' that could overturn the belief that a vice-president never really effects the outcome of the White House race. Watch this space…
